On the news tonight:  “Black Magic Exists in St. Lucia”.  And as soon as they started talking about it, my host mom shouts, “I know that lady!”  Apparently some cemetery workers were preparing a grave for a funeral, and found a small box already in it surrounded by black candles.  Inside the box were pictures with inscriptions on the back like “she fall”.  Also there were articles of this woman’s clothing, a dead chicken and several eggs.  Definitely sounds ominous!  The lady who was the target of all this seemed un-fazed though.  She said she has The Lord on her side.  I’d still be watching my back if I were her.

The storm seems to be over.  Many businesses and all the schools were closed still today.  It rained more in this part of the island today than yesterday and it was cloudy all day.  I haven’t seen much damage up here, but on the news they showed worse damage to the banana plantations and towns on the eastern coast of the island.
